VR Porn Movies boost the Virtual Reality Business

Piper Jaffray, an investment bank, reckons the business task will pay off. VR Porn will be a $1 billion-a-year business, making it the third-biggest VR section after sports and gaming.

The charge into virtual reality of leading pornography is Paul’s Naughty America, which started last July selling VR pornography. Those who’ve attempted it “are going nuts,” he says.

htcvive_whiteNaughty America, among the biggest manufacturers of mature content, considers itself something of an innovator, and found online in 2003. It started taking bitcoin as payment two years ago and used Twitter early on. The company made headlines when it began filming in ultra-high-definition.

Embracing the latest thing that is next in technology was a move that is natural, says Paul. “The concentration and the closeness is unlike any other format.”
Beginning to feel real

Scott Stein says Paul is not exaggerating. He saw “Very Merry XXXmas” — Naughty America’s discreetly called vacation show — on a Samsung Gear VR headset, and came away impressed.

“It is right before your face … in among the more eerily successful cases of VR-prepared video I Have ever seen,” Stein told me. “It begins to feel real sometimes.” Especially when you think of all the Virtual Reality Toys which will be built for a sensory extension of the movies.

Making VR pornography is different than making traditional 2D films, and filmmakers are still learning the best way to shoot with the cameras of the technology. VR cameras record just as much as 360 degrees — all around the room — and they get more information than standard video apparatus.

The digital files are enormous, so its videos have been restricted by Naughty America to only 180 degrees: left, right, down and up. The productions do not trouble with the view behind the camera, Paul says.
“Folks need a super-immersive experience, and I don’t have any doubt we’ll see it.”

The videos do not have complete action either. You can not turn your head to alter the viewing angle. If you need to get an improved look at the girl wearing a Santa hat and little else — she is the star of “Very Merry XXXmas” — you are out of luck.

Stein said it feels like a “peep show.”

Paul says he is still working the kinks out. For the time being, Naughty America has already stumbled on new strategies for his “veteran performers” in moviemaking.

About 2 percent of the firm’s customers view VR titles now. Naughty America predictions that as many as 20 million people will be seeing its VR pornography monthly by the ending of the year.

Naturally, not all members of the VR sector are not unhappy about the revolution in pornography.

Samsung will not permit a designated pornography station on its VR shop that is on-line. The firm is so worried about tarnishing its brand it does not need to see porn and Samsung in the same sentence and declined to comment on individuals using Gear VR to view pornography.

A spokesman for Oculus says its terms of service prohibit pornography in the Oculus Store.

HTC looks relaxed. Dan O’Brien, who runs the VR job of the mobile manufacturer, cracked a grin and blushed when asked about pornography being seen through his institution’s headset.

“Folks need a super-immersive experience, and I don’t have any doubt we’ll find it,” he said at CES. He added that pornography is being worked on by none of the programmers examining the HTC VR system.

Sony did not react to an e-mail about the issue.

Naughty America’s Paul wants businesses were a little more open minded. People that possess Sony’s PlayStation video game console are candidates for purchasing VR goggles. And after the goggles are owned by them, Naughty America can sell them VR pornography.
